In Paraná the rate of intentional homicides (those with intent to kill) fell 21.3% during the study period, the second best result of Brazil. There were 2,572 incidents last year, against 3,135 in 2012. The Secretary of Public Security, Leon Grupenmacher says that the drop in homicides in the state has been continuous, which shows the effective police work. “The reduction in crime rates is a result of investments in equipment and intelligence, plus the commitment of the police to the long tee shirts,” he said.

The largest falls were observed in regions of Cornelius (-52.63%); Apucarana (-51.43%); Jacarezinho (-41.67%); Rolândia (-36.67%); São Mateus do Sul (-36.36%); Foz do Iguaçu (-20.72%); Maringa (-20.41%); Pato Branco (-19.44%); União da Vitória (-18.75%); Rattlesnake (-10.48%); Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (-8.33%); and Paranaguá (-7.58%). The number of murders is the main criminal indicator used worldwide to evaluate the results in the area of public safety. The data serve to guide and plan the actions of the police.
The report shows information about thefts and quiksilver t shirts, and burglaries and vehicle thefts, incidents related to drug trafficking and others. Percentage change in 2014/2013, crimes against the person (such as threat, slander, libel and slander), decreased by 1.86%. Crimes against property (theft, robbery and extortion, among others) showed 2.61% records more than the previous year. The rate of thefts has increased by 2.61%. Thefts and robberies trades throughout Paraná recorded a decrease 0.70% and 3.76%, respectively. This year, 11 271 were recovered, compared to 10,484 in 2013.
